Freezer FAQ
What freezer capacity do you need?
By avoiding a model that’s too large, you naturally keep electricity use under control. As a general guideline, plan for about 1.5 cu. ft. per person for standard use, and up to 2.5 cu. ft. per person if you freeze in larger quantities (homemade meals, bulk shopping, garden harvests).
- For 1 to 2 people, a 3 to 6 cu. ft. freezer is usually enough.
- A small family with moderate use will typically aim for 6 to 10 cu. ft.
- For a household of 3 to 5 people or heavier needs, choose a freezer between 10 and 18 cu. ft.
