- In 1923, Antonio Calligaris launched his first workshop in Manzano, Italy, creating the legendary Marocca chair. This handcrafted wooden and straw chair was a typical model from the region.
- In the 1950s, his son Romeo led the company to tremendous growth, taking advantage of the post-war economic boom.
- Antonio’s grandsons, Alessandro and Walter, took over in the 1960s, guiding the company through a period of rapid industrialization. This era allowed the company to expand its production and distribute its creations across Europe.
- In 1986, one of Antonio's grandsons, Alessandro, took the helm of the company. He launched Calligaris onto the international stage by incorporating numerous technological innovations.
