Danby was founded in 1947 in Montreal as a small family business. From the start, it set a clear mission: to design practical and innovative appliances. The goal was to offer the same features as larger models but in a compact format, ideal for households looking for space-saving solutions.

Jim Estill and his team, based at the Guelph, Ontario headquarters, continue to prioritize accessible, well-designed products made to simplify everyday life. But Danby’s commitment goes even further. Its CEO personally sponsored 58 Syrian refugee families in Guelph, an initiative that earned him the Order of Canada. Additionally, during the pandemic, Danby leveraged its expertise to support public health by manufacturing medical freezers for storing COVID-19 vaccines. Finally, in partnership with Regal Ideas, it contributed to equipping a women’s shelter in Vancouver.
