How do I choose the right sofa for my living room?
Start by measuring your available space and thinking about how your sofa will be used. A loveseat, typically between 60 and 72 inches wide, is well suited for condos, apartments and smaller living rooms. A standard three-seat sofa usually measures between 75 and 96 inches wide and provides comfortable seating for families or anyone who enjoys entertaining.
If you have a larger space, a sectional offers additional seating while helping define your living area. Before placing your order, remember to measure all doorways, staircases and elevators to ensure your new sofa can be delivered without any surprises.
Should I choose a leather or fabric sofa?
What size sofa should I choose?
Measure your room before shopping to determine the size that works best for your space. For comfortable traffic flow, allow approximately 30 to 36 inches between the sofa and other furniture. A coffee table is typically placed 16 to 18 inches from the front of the seat for easy access. If you're considering a reclining sofa, leave approximately 4 to 6 inches of clearance behind the back, or follow the manufacturer's recommendations, so the reclining mechanism can fully extend.
