What’s the best mattress firmness?
Contrary to popular belief, there’s no one-size-fits-all firmness level. Choosing the right mattress is all about how comfortable it feels to you — not just your body type.
It’s important to distinguish between two key concepts: support and firmness. Support refers to the mattress’s ability to evenly sustain your body, considering elements like resistance and cushioning. It plays a crucial role in keeping your spine properly aligned for restful sleep.
Firmness, on the other hand, is about how the mattress feels when you lie on it — and that’s entirely a matter of personal preference.
At JC Perreault, all our mattresses offer premium support. And to match your unique comfort needs, we offer five firmness levels: ultra-plush, plush, medium-firm, firm, and extra-firm.
What are the different types of mattresses?
Whether you prefer the softness of foam or the structured feel of springs, each mattress technology offers distinct benefits. That’s why we carry three main types:
- Memory foam mattresses use viscoelastic foam to contour to your body with remarkable precision. They relieve pressure points at the shoulders, hips, or back, while minimizing motion transfer. An excellent choice if you enjoy a cradling feel and want to reduce disturbances from a partner’s movements.
- Pocket coil mattresses feature individually wrapped coils that respond independently to your movements. This design provides excellent support, breathability, and durability. It’s especially well-suited to back and stomach sleepers, or anyone who prefers balanced firmness.
- Hybrid mattresses combine multiple technologies — often memory foam and pocket coils — to deliver an ideal blend of comfort, support, and responsiveness. Versatile and adaptable, they suit a wide range of body types and sleep preferences.
